Give GreenBowdoin is deeply committed to building a sustainable campus and a sustainable community. The College has focused efforts on five key areas: reducing emissions, sustainable planning, living locally, education and research, campus and student involvement.
The alumni community can also help reduce Bowdoin’s impact on the environment. How? By giving early and Giving Green.
Last year, more than 8,000 alumni generously supported Bowdoin’s Alumni Fund and 2,500 of those donors gave online. Consider two things when making your next gift:
Bowdoin would not be the special place it is without the wonderful support of its loyal alumni. Thank you for giving back and for Giving Green!

A 2008 survey found that by switching to electronic bills, statements and payments, the average American household would save 6.6 pounds of paper a year, save 0.08 trees, and not produce 171 pounds of greenhouse gases—the equivalent of driving 169 miles. The survey, whose results were vetted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, said it would also mean avoiding the deforestation of 24 square feet of forest, the release of 63 gallons of wastewater into the environment, and save 4.5 gallons of gasoline used for mailing.
