The PrioritiesThe goals of The Bowdoin Campaign are divided into five categories reflecting the most important aspects of the College and its mission.
Academic Affairs
We must continue to attract and retain outstanding teachers and scholars in today’s competitive marketplace by investing substantial new funds for Bowdoin’s faculty members to advance their creativity and research—all with the goal of inspiring and transforming our students.
Student Affairs
For more than 200 years, the essence of a Bowdoin education has included not only what goes on in the classroom, but also the other ways that students learn and grow—in the college houses and residence halls, in the studio, gallery and theater, and in the athletic arena.
Annual Giving
Gifts to the Alumni Fund, the Parents Fund, the Polar Bear Athletic Fund, and the Friends of the College Fund generate vital support for Bowdoin’s academic program, financial aid, and extracurricular activities, providing an important margin of excellence beyond what is possible from tuition and endowment income alone.
Building Projects
Three early campaign goals include the creation of Studzinski Recital Hall, the renovation of the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, and the construction of Kanbar Hall, the College’s newest academic building. These three venues are already having a dramatic impact on student life, reflecting the needs and interests of our diverse and talented student body.
Financial Aid
Bowdoin provides 40 percent of students with financial aid each year for a total of $17 million. We must hold our financial aid programs at current levels to maintain our ability to enroll the most talented, diverse, and promising students, regardless of their ability to pay for a Bowdoin education.
