Bowdoin is one of a few colleges and universities to have codified the values of its learning community. The Residential Life office is committed to supporting the learning process that takes place both inside and outside of the classroom. The Proctors, Resident Assistants, College House residents, College House affiliates, and the professional staff work to achieve Bowdoin's recent Residential Life initiatives. We foster healthy and safe residence halls, College Houses, and apartments, which comprise our residential community.

College Housing Opening and Closing Dates
2011-2012 Academic Year

Start of the Year:
Tuesday, August 23, 2011: First Year students participating in Pre-Orientation programs arrive
Saturday, August 27, 2011: College housing opens for all First Year students
Tuesday, August 30, 2011: College housing opens for upperclass students

Fall Break and Thanksgiving Break:
College housing remains open during this time.

Winter Break:
Tuesday, December 20, 2012: College housing closes at 12:00 noon
Saturday, January 21, 2012: College housing opens at 8:00 a.m.

Spring Break:
Saturday, March 10, 2012: College housing closes at 12:00 noon
Saturday, March 24, 2012: College housing opens at 8:00 a.m.

End of the Year:
Sunday, May 20, 2012: College housing for underclass students closes at 12:00 noon
Saturday, May 26, 2012: College housing for graduating students closes at 6:00 p.m.
