Orientation

Dear Members of the Class of 2015,

Janet Lohmann
Dean Janet Lohmann

Welcome to Bowdoin College!  It won't be long before you arrive and be reaffirmed that you've made a great choice!  Transitions are a mix of excitement and anxiety with changes and new people in your daily life.  While we acknowledge that transitions are not always easy, rest assured that there are many thoughtful folks preparing for your arrival who will be willing to assist you through the ups and downs of beginning your college career.  You will soon find yourself settling into an enriching, challenging and well-supported life at Bowdoin.

Before you arrive I invite you to "meet" some of the wonderful people here at Bowdoin - check out the You Tube video links below under "Getting to Know Bowdoin Resources"!

During the summer months you've received a number of mailings and emails from Bowdoin College requesting information to assist us with your arrival, including PDF and online forms, surveys, and placement tests.  You are asked to read all emails and documents carefully, as many are time sensitive.

We invite you to familiarize yourself more fully with this website as the time draws near to your arrival in late August.  Many of the answers to your questions about arrival, your Orientation program, and life at Bowdoin in general will be found here: in particular, pay attention to the FAQs linked from this page.  Your Arrival Day schedules are listed below.   Orientation is a 4 day event, starting on Saturday evening, August 27th and ending Wednesday afternoon, August 31st.  Please note that attendance at all Orientation events is required.  Classes begin on Thursday, September 1, 2011.  You are now able to see course offerings for the Fall 2011 semester. Keep in mind that all new students will register for classes during Orientation.

We look forward to welcoming you to your new home in Brunswick, Maine in August!
