Blackboard

Blackboard is Bowdoin's web-based course and organization management system. It provides many services and tools to faculty and students, including course web pages, discussion boards, drop boxes, and photo rosters. Additionally, Blackboard contains tools that can assist faculty in managing a course or enhancing learning activities with such features as an electronic gradebook, online exams and surveys, and blogs and wikis.

Blackboard course sites are generated each semester for all courses, relying on data from the Student Records system. During the add/drop period the system updates the course enrollment data daily to keep course rosters up-to-date. Access to Blackboard is provided to all faculty, staff, and students.

How to Upload the Library's Wiley Blackwell Journal Articles to Blackboard

The Library now provides access to the majority of journals published by Wiley Blackwell through a new model called Article Select.  Instead of paying prohibitive journal subscription fees up front, we now pay per article used.  The Library has created a page with more information and instructions on how to download the article and then upload it to Blackboard.

Training

Each semester IT offers introductory, advanced, and/or refresher training sessions for Blackboard. To view the schedule and to register, please visit the Training web page. Additionally, IT offers one-on-one sessions. Please contact Jennifer Snow for more information.
