The Chemistry Department seeks applicants for a tenured appointment in physical chemistry (broadly defined) beginning Fall 2013. A Ph.D. in physical chemistry or a related field is required; postdoctoral research is highly desirable. Appointment will be made at the Associate or Full professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. Teaching expectations (three courses per year) include responsibility for one core physical chemistry course (either Thermodynamics/Kinetics or Quantum Chemistry/Spectroscopy), one introductory chemistry course, and one other course, at the introductory/intermediate/advanced level, that will contribute to the curricula of chemistry and related majors. Full-time laboratory instructor support is provided for lab sections. Preference will be given to candidates with research and teaching interests that build bridges to other majors at the College, including biochemistry, neuroscience, and environmental science. The successful candidate must possess a strong commitment to undergraduate education and demonstrate the potential to develop a funded, active, and productive research program that involves undergraduates.
Bowdoin College accepts only electronic submissions. Please visit https://careers.bowdoin.edu to submit cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research plans, statement on teaching philosophy, and contact information for three letters of recommendation.
